This series of articles explores LDE's commitment to adopting an integrated sustainability strategy through conscious choices in energy, materials, transport and people.

In a global context increasingly oriented toward responsible business practices, sustainable material management is crucial to reducing environmental impact. The World Economic Forum emphasizes the importance of recycling and waste reduction as key levers for making supply chains more sustainable, as confirmed by studies on resource efficiency from the European Environment Agency.
In the logistics sector—where material usage is significant—responsible management is essential to promoting a virtuous production cycle and reducing the ecological footprint. At LDE, we focus closely on managing materials—both incoming and outgoing.
Wood accounts for approximately 60% of the waste produced in our warehouses. To ensure proper management of this material, we rely on a certified supplier who is part of Rilegno, the leading Italian consortium for sustainable wood disposal. This consortium not only collects and processes the wood but also transforms it into new materials, such as pellets and wood chips.
In this way, we contribute to reducing environmental impact and giving new life to what would otherwise become waste. Additionally, our commitment goes beyond simple disposal: we continuously monitor processes to ensure that high environmental standards are respected in all phases of wood management.
Efficiency and sustainability are fundamental principles in our relationships with external partners. We collaborate with suppliers who hold major environmental certifications in the logistics sector for the collection, transportation, and treatment of waste generated by our warehouses. This ensures that all these activities comply with the highest sustainability Standards.
Through such synergies, we can continuously monitor and optimize our environmental impact to build a more responsible logistics cycle.
Finally, we adopt rigorous policies for cardboard, one of the main materials used in our logistics operations. Our packaging is 100% recyclable and supplied by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), an organization promoting responsible management of forestal resources.
This choice reduces environmental impact and reflects our company philosophy of safeguarding natural resources and minimizing waste.
Our commitment to sustainable material management represents a model we hope can inspire other players in the sector. With an integrated approach to material sustainability, we aim to play our part in building a more responsible future. From pallet wood recovery practices to the choice of certified packaging, every decision is made to minimize environmental impact and add value to natural resources, promoting a more virtuous and eco-friendly production cycle.
